There is an older thread concerning some very nice Polk door speakers that fit into the doors with a minor mod to the baskets that hold them. I apologize that I don't remember the models. I did the upgrade and the sound difference was amazing. One of my existing speakers had totally failed.

5.25" v/s 6.5" confusion
Even though everyone on here says that the front door speakers are 5.25", the diagram provided by the dealership shows the front door speaker as a 6.5" speaker.
Since so many people on here have changed their speakers and no one contests the fact that the front door speakers are 5.25", I assume the speakers are 5.25".
Does anyone have an idea as to why the diagram shows the speaker as 6.5"?
$43.46 is pretty inexpensive for stock speakers. Is it because the OEM speakers aren't all that great?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think I'm going to go with Polk db650 and db690. I searched and read through quite a few threads and those seem to be the most hassle free fits on our cars.

yeah, just make sure the tweeter protrusion isn't too far outward, otherwise your stock grill won't be able to fit over them and therefore advertising your speakers for thieves.

Thanks for the tip TLBaller. I think quite a few people on here have managed to get the stock grill over the db690s. From what I've read, the tweeter protrudes about 1/16th of an inch more than the tweeters on the stock speakers... but it can be covered with the custom grill. I hope I'm right. :p
