Solution for CD Player acting finicky....
Solution for CD Player acting finicky....
I recenly bought a 1997 3.2 TL and the CD player refused to play most CD's. It actecdx pricey and puked oput some CD's it actually played 5 minutes ago.
I bought a memorex cd lens cleaning CD from BestBuy and played it twice. It is now playing all CD's including CD's I cut myself...the only CDs it's not playing are Imation CD's I cut myself....bit apart from that - its playing everything.
Those 8 speakers sound goooooooddddd.........

I always had problems with the OEM CD player reading certain burned CDs - it was kind of hot or miss. I think the fact that these cars were made before buring CDs became popular has something to do with it.
i shouldve thought of that, i did try to clean with lens cleaner but i kept ketting 'error 0x' forgot the #(but in the manual it corresponded to erronous cd) happened mostly with burnt cds.. The 2.5tl is known to have a shitty cd player anyway though, if i were u guys, id skip trying to spend $ to fix it and get a non-acura cd player, its cheaper to even get a clarion these days (thats what I ended up getting)
But keep in mind, with our cars u need the the extra honda bracket which u can buy from any specialized audio store. Let me know if you guys need extra help.

Fix for this problem
Folks
I seem to have found a way out. I looked around and finally found an old machine with a really old HP CD writer in the office. I forced the write speed down to 2X and cut an audio cd. Voilla - it worked.
Give that a try. All the new CD writers cut at high speeds (>16X or so) by default. My Acura manufactured in 1997 is obviously having issues trying to read these CD's.

It is good practice to burn all cds at 2x for reading compatibility plus smoother playback (without skip). It is more likely to happen if you burn at 48x that you will hear skips. Unless you have a very good old school cd player.
My Clarion reads cds very well in my 2.5 but my old school denon cd player plays it back even better at hoem.

I just posted this under another thread but I'll post it again here....
if you put in the CD and immediately press the next track button a few times so that it starts on something other than 01, it catches.. this doesn't work everytime so you have to play with it, but it does work.
