snap ring
kind of embarassing story..
as we were driving this weekend, my car started to vibrate..
so, we pulled over and turns out that the drivers axle popped out..
the same one that i had to take out and put back in when i changed the mount..
when i did that, i reused the snap ring..
had to get it towed and fixed because i was 90 miles from my house..
but.. is there any trick to these rings?

Shop manual says to replace the set ring when the driveshaft is removed. I haven't pulled one on my Acura, but have pulled one on my daughter's 97 2.2CL. I simply cleaned the ring, snap ring groove, and receiving groove to make sure there was room for flexing. Grease can jam in the groove and prevent engagement of the snap ring. You should hear a positive snap when the set ring is engaged in the mating groove.
