Question Replacement Keyless Entry

I have been searching and searching and searching, and I have yet to find anyone who had anything happen to their keyless entry remote. Nor, did I find any questions about replacing one if it were broken/lost/ect. I was wondering how long of a process it would be to find out.
My situation is that I have the remote, but I can only lock the doors. I have changed the batterie and everything to no avail. I know there are full aftermarket replacements and security systems available, but I am pretty satisfied with what I have right now (if it worked). Plus, I dont wish to spend the money.
I would also be ok with maybe getting a generic remote that required a code to make it work on my car. This way the "Misses" can have a set too.

Looking forward to the help. This place is great!!! Fingers are crossed!!!

There was a thread on it, if you search under my name, put "programming alarm" under search terms, and limit it to First gen forum, you should be able to find it. Most likely your system just needs to be reset. If something is really wrong with your fob, they pop up occasionally on eBay. Just be sure to get the right one.

Oh BTW, my fob also only locks, but that's because I bypassed the unlock signal at the brain. Maybe the previous owner had an aftermarket alarm and did the same, only removing the alarm when he/she sold the car.

keyless entry

I'm a little confused about your question. Obviously you can get a replacement at the dealer for about $70. Other options are:

or

Does your current remote work?

That's what's going on.

I think I am going to have to look at replacing the whole thing. This way I can have two. Money is the main issue right now. I guess I will have to look at that thread about re-setting the FOB remote key. Something about holding the unlock lever on the door panel and putting the key in the ignition multiple times then some mo' stuff. Is this right?
