P0402 Exhaust Gas recirculation
P0402 Exhaust Gas recirculation
Hello fellow diy Backyard mechanics! I have a 1996 Acura TL 3.2. I just got an 'engine check' light come up this morning. Found out it was a P0 401 code, Exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient reading. I think I located the EGR on the passenger rear side of the manifold. It looks like maybe even I can remove it. Looks like two bolts, one hose, and an electrical plug for removal. Is it really just that easy, or should I expect something more? I'm not all that mechanically inclined, but I don't have much money. I'm hoping I might get away with just diligently cleaning the part, put it back on, and see if the light goes out. Does that seem reasonable and accurate for my specific vehicle?
Thanks,
SD

Do that, but I think you need to pull the intake, and clean the egr passages in it and the mating passage in the block. There's also a passage that comes up to the valve that gets plugged up too. Fill it full of brake/carb cleaner and it let soak for a good while, then blow it out with air.
