Noisy sound from Alternator

My Alternator makes a lot of noise. Should I replace with new one or just replace a front and rear bearing?
Please give me your advice.
Thanks.

sounds like we have the same problem... yesterday morning, the TL's first cold start of the morning had a loud grinding sound... it sounds like it is coming from the alternator so i am guessing the bearing is going...

at 150k mi, i will just change out the alternator...

Why deal with the bearings, refurb alts have lifetime warranty on them and they are reasonable in price.

^ I had the same problem and thought it was the alternator too, but turns out to be the A/C compressor's pulley. Good to see that you have found the problem.

I had that replaced earlier this month, after dealing with the squeeling for a few yrs. Finally, the best snapped. No a/c no heater no nothing! I couldn't find a used tensioner pulley at a junkyard so I had the dealership rape me...without lube.

Hey guys, this happened to my son's 2002 RL over the weekend. I discovered that you can replace the bearing in the tensioner pulley with a stock 6203
rs 17 x 40 x 12 bearing available on line for about five bucks, or 10 for $15. I always thought this car had "belt sqeak," but now I know it was a bearing going bad. I think this size bearing is used in all of the belt tensioner pulleys in all of Honda and Acura vehicles, alternators, A/C, PS, etc. This sure beats the stealership.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead:

My s/o's 2008 tL-s started making a whining noise pretty badly.

Well I pulled the alternator today and had it tested.

It passed fine without any issues at two different autozone stores - and wasn't making any noise when tested on the machine.

So what is making the noise?

I can't find any of the pulleys that isn't spinning freely or making noise...

But when the car is running, omg loud squealing / whirring / grinding!

For what year? I could find some info to post for the first gen but you apppaently have a 2008. As stated above, you've posted in the first generation TL section. Both cazio and Black_R are asking in the wrong area.
