Need your help! Rack and Pinion slack?
So for the past two years I"ve replaced steering components like crazy so I have all the ideas for any faults I may have. My latest, because of seals being destroyed on rack, I have replaced my rack with a rebuilt one and everything seems to be going fine minus alot of slack I cannot seem to tighten. I"ve gotten an alignment, new inner and outer tie rods, replaced all the mounting bushings, checked all possibilities, next is either the steering linkage or the nut for the adjustment underneath the gearbox. My question is has anyone in this forum ever done this job? And what would the proper procedure be? Any help will be appreciated C'mon guys I really need your help on this one I just want the steering to be stiffer my friend drove it and also said it's "too" smooth. I don"t want it to be a complete waste of like $400.

Three Wheelin'
Not sure of what you meant by stiff and smooth, but if you are referring to the amount of force it takes to turn the steering wheel then I would have to say that our cars have very lite steering. Everyone who has ever driven my car were all surprised and commented on how easy it was to turn the wheel.

Okay so I found where the slack is just have no idea how to tighten it up any ideas would be helpful. Behind the steering wheel down aways is the steering joint the connects the rack to that rod up to the steering wheel. So there is definitely movement is that area just don't know how everything seems really tight? I'm in the blue again....
