Good luck, John.
I went through this several years back and it ain't easy. Check out the starter sticky and you will get some ideas. It would be great to have access to a lift. I was getting woozy and disoriented when I did mine. I made it more difficult by almost cutting off my right forefinger the first day I worked on mine. I was hardheaded and didn't get it sewn up. It's ugly, but it still works as does my starter. If you lived near here, I'd share a beer and "supervise".

Doggoneit Jon, I had or have a pretty complete step-by-step for doing the starter, but can't find it off hand. You will have to jack the car up and block it safely, remove the driver side wheel, drain the differential, disconnect the ball joint and remove some parts, remove the driver side driveshaft after unstaking the hub nut. This is too misleading. I'll really try to get the step-by-step info asap. I didn't need to remove the exhaust like it says in some manuals, but I did remove the heat shield on it.

Here are several pdfs to get you started.

As I may have mentioned in the starter sticky posts, if I had it to do over, I'd change both the starter mounting bolts to socket head cap acrews. They would be special order from a good hardware supply house, but would make the reassembly lots easier. It ain't fun trying to hold the hex socket on a bolt head with 15 extensions and universal joints on a socket wrench.
