maintaining speed problems

hey whats up everybody this is my first time being on this forum, can someone help me out with my car. i have a 96' 2.5tl and the problem is that my car has slow acceleration, when i let go of the gas pedal the rev limmiter drops all the way down passing 1,000 and goes back up to 1,000 and then when i gas it up again it goes up to 2,000 or higher and this is when im barely pressing on gas. the other problem is that when im just cruising the car somehow looses its speed even if i have a steady foot on the pedal. its really getting annoying. i wanna know what could be the problem so i can fix it before it leads to anything serious. could it be the the compression or transmission what can i do to change it.

Your symptoms are too vague to provide any diagnosis. Does the engine idle fine w/o missing? Does the engine miss under acceleration. Has the Check Engine light been illuminated at any point?

If you've never had a tuneup at Acura's expense and mileage is <150K, you should take your car to Acura. They will perform a tuneup and replace any failed emission parts free of charge. You will get new spark plugs, new wires, new distributor cap and rotor in any case.

good luck

Buy a new battery and post back on how you got on.
