Smile Low Fuel light is out

I have a '96 ACURA TL 3.2. Just today I ran out of gas because I've been dependent upon my low fuel light to come on. It never came on and I ran out of gas. So, is there a fuse connected to this low fuel signal, and if so, where is it located? From the diagrams I've seen, nothing mentions the low fuel signal light. Anyone have any idea?

Through the years of owning my car, I've yet to see that light come on even when low on gas. I've never bother to look it up because I don't think that it's practical to depend on a light to tell me when to refuel when I have a gauge to look at. Plus, I've read that gas also serves as a purpose to cool the fuel pump so I always try to refuel at around quarter of a tank left when possible.

Moral of story... don't just depend on the "low fuel" indicator lamp. It's a nice light to have in times that the gauge ever malfunctions, but if you fuel up regularly it'll save you the headache and possibly the expense of replacing a fuel pump later down the road. As for your light not coming on, my guess would be a burned out bulb.

Likely a burned out bulb at that position in the instrument cluster. When I removed the cluster in our TL to replace the D4 bulb, I checked the rest of the bulbs and found three others were burned out; TCS, SRS, low fuel. Those are three that you wouldn't really miss during normal driving.

My response was rhetorical. I should have figured I needed to spell that out to you. Of course I realize I was depending upon the light. I wrote that in my original post. Nevertheless, you replied without a solution but instead restated my post. ????

Thanks for your response. How difficult is it to gain access to replacing these bulbs?

You have to remove the fascia that covers the instrument cluster and then remove the cluster itself. Here are some instructions from this site that are for replacing the D4 bulb but its the same as far as gaining access to the other bulbs.

Again, my replies were just my In my first post, I was implying that since it's not that important to just live with it and fill up before getting too low on fuel (like in my situation). In my second post, I did mention about a burned out bulb.

To get to the cluster, you will need to remove the one piece bezel that includes the driver and center vents. IIRC, it is held on by 2 screws on top and two screw behind the flap when you lower the steering column. Then, carefully pry the bezel out without breaking or cracking it. Disconnect the clock and hazard connectors. Everything else after that are pretty much self explanatory. Good Luck!

Now, that's what I was looking for. Thanks
