knocking clanging under excelleration, while moving
1998 2.5 tl recently noticed a knocking or clanging while excellerating only when excellerating lightly. if i push a little harder it goes away, it doesnt do it while in park, or while in drive sitting still, i can not reproduce this sound in my garage, the engine sound great and seems to be running fine but wheni drive down the road i get the issue. it seems to be more common when going around 25 mph, slowing down a little and then speeding back up with light excelleration.
please let me know if you guys have any idea.

CV axles are a possibility. Notice whether you get any popping/crunching sounds when turning sharply at slow speeds.
Also check exhaust system shields carefully. They can cause rattling/clanging sound under acceleration.
good luck

does sound similar to an exhaust shield rattle but dont think thats the issue. ive fixed a few exhaust rattles already, before this issue. cant find anything loose underneath. also thought i would add that it has about 115,000 on it.
Have you overheated the engine lately? Does it sound like a metal ball banging around in a paint can? If so it could be detonation, a broken valve spring, or bad water pump echoing through the coolant channel in the engine., and if you' re real lucky it might only be a bad tensioner.
