Help! One of engine cooling fan problem
I have 98 2.5TL. I bought it about a year ago. I have no problem before until last week I noticed that one of the engine cooling fan ( Fan behind the radiator/in front of engine, the one on driver side or blow air to A/C compressor ) will turn on when I turn the key on and it will stay on alltime when engine is runnig without A/C on. Iknow know that it didn't do this before. Please can anyone help me? what cause it? I'm afraid it will burn that fan. :silvermad
The condensor fan (driver's side) is wired to come on w/ ignition OFF when the coolant temperature exceeds 199F. This feature is intended to cool a shut-down engine after a long drive and prevent excessive cylinder head temps, and damage to the head gasket.
Are you sure the fan does not run when ignition is OFF? Fan relay is wired hot all the time to allow it to run w/ keyswitch OFF. If it only runs when keyswitch is ON, then you may have a faulty fan control module that is providing power to engage the condensor fan relay, when keyswitch is ON. Unsual problem. Only way to confirm may be to substitute a good fan control module to see of problem stops.
Looking at circuit diagram, that's only way for fan to run when keyswitch is ON, and not run when keyswitch is OFF.
good luck

Thanks! Where can I get the circuit diagram? Do I have to go to the dealer? or can I get it somewhere from the internet ?
I check it, fan will stop when keyswitch is off. and fan will on when the keyswitch is on even the the temperture only 20F ( I mean when first start the car in the morning )and it will stay on all time while car is running. And I also put a different fan relay on it but still did not make any different.( I swapped with the one for other fan).

Condensor fan on all the time suggests two faults; thermoswitch A which should only close when temp reaches 194F, is closed all the time which would cause fan to engage all the time when switch is ON. Other fault is failed radiator fan or fan fuse, since it does not come on w/ condensor fan.

You could pull up the Accord manual from the following link. Wiring diagram is nearly identical to Accords

good luck
