HEEELP. Engine only runs with OBD scanner
HEEELP. Engine only runs with OBD scanner
I just finished cleaning the intake plenum, EGR ports and also replaced the cam seals and timing belts. Before trying to start the engine, I disconnected the injector connections so I could crank the engine to feed oil to the cams. When I reconnected the injectors and tried to start the engine, it would not start. I found that there was no fuel pressure because I was not getting voltage to the fuel pump. Also, I noticed that with the key on (engine off) the shift lock would not release and the check engine light did not illuminate.
I connected the scanner, but no fault codes were listed. But, with it connected, the fuel pump worked and so too did the shift lock and check engine light. The engine started and the scanner showed one fault code, 0140, Bank 1, sensor 2. which was there before I started the work.
I disconnected the scanner, and the engine immediately shut down. It will only run when the scanner is connected.
I have checked all electrical connections, but all seems OK, unless I have missed one. Any idea's? Could this be related to cranking the engine while the injectors were disconnected?
Thanks.
