Getting the radiator replaced

My '98 2.5 has developed a radiator leak in the top plastic tank part of the radiator. After getting some expensive replacment quotes, I finally ended up buying a radiator from the local 1-800-RADIATOR warehouse for $140 and I'm taking it to a local shop where the install is going to cost me about $150, with me also supplying the Honda coolant.

The chain places are looking for $400 for the same part, and then about $200 more for labor above the heavy part markup. The guy at Meineke admitted their parts markup was a bit steep. The small local places seem to not look at customers like they just won the lottery and you're writing the big check for them.

^ WTF? $150 for a radiator swap? It took me 15 minutes in the rain to do mine. I sat waiting for UPS to deliver it to find that some asshat at UPS opened the box to see if my radiator would fit his Shit-vic. All because the box had "CSR Standard - High Performance - Race Radiators" emblazoned on the side... After waiting 9 hours, I got it and had my car running in 20 minutes.

~Cheers~

Yeah, it was way cheaper than the dealer or the local Meineke place - and I'm sure the system was bled correctly too...

Our radiator is very easy to swap out. I swap mines months ago because of the same reason. It took me less than half an hour to do it. From what i know, this is a very common problem with hondas..
