engine vibration
engine vibration
well, I've posted few times on this problem that I still have.
today I've hooked up the vacuum gauge to the intake and noticed that the vacuum needle is was flactuating around 22hg/in mark with a range of .75hg/in.
I've also taken a reading at the throttle body and the reading was same but with less fluctuation.
opening and closing throttle caused the needle to drop to 0 then jump to 28 and then back to 22..
it could be something with ignition
.. or with valves..
i've replaced the plugs and cap and rotor.
haven't had a chance to test the wires, my test leads can't reach in there.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks

I don't see anything wrong w/ those readings. See following link:

I have looked through various sites and the general consensus that the needle should be steady at idle.
Mine oscillates very rapidly and that concerns me.
Well, what really concerns me is the vibration. My engine is rocking from left to right wearing out bunch of things in the process.
I have adjusted my valves awhile back. Recently I've done a compression test, but my battery was in bad shape and i cranked the thing like 6 times to get the reading that i've got.
So, when I get time I'll do the compression test again.

I have gen2 so guessing here based on my 01:
You probably have vac assistted front and rear motor mounts- my 01 does
and they can be freaky to diagnose- a vac leak from a motor mount- you're
pulling my leg right?
Look for odd oil puddle under those mounts- they are also fluid filled!!
Squeeze the vac line to the mounts selenoid and see if that fixes it
The engine rocking would be your first clue that one or more mounts are broken
Common for front and pass side to need replacement
Another gen2 member had a bad rear mount that took a year for him to accept the dealers diagnosis, and finally fix that part-instant all better
Good luck
