Question Engine Problems with Acura 2.5 tl 98

Hi All,

I am in a deep trouble with my car(Acura 2.5TL 1998). Thought I would findout if somebody already experienced it before going to a mechanic and getting raped literally.
A couple of months ago I got my timing belt changed at 98k milage and thought that would take care of the dashboard engine check light that was on for quite sometime. So recently I again went to the same mechanic for diagnosis and he said there were 2 problems in my car for the engine check light coming on.
1. P0301 (cylinder misfire caused from worn cap and rotor and bad plug wires). He said to fix this it would cost like $250.00
2. P0171 (Lean running bank 1). To fix this he said it would cost around $1700.

SO I went a head and got the first problem fixed. Then on the engine light was not on for almost a month. Then I Thought everything was fine, before I noticed that light started playing like it is coming on and going off by itself for quite sometime.
Unfortunately the it became serious and my engine started making noises though it was running fine. But today it started making a loud noise and when I thought I would take to a dealer and while I approached the traffic stop light, all of sudden my engine had shut down. I was able to bring my gear back to parking and started it and drove back home with the loud crancking noise in the engine.

I don't know what to do now. I really need a suggestion here. I don't know what might be real problem with my car. I just wanted to find out from any of you guys who might have already such a kinda problem before going to a dealer or mechanic to open up my pants.

The car runs smooth and no vibrations. And I usually warm up the engine every morning for about 15 mins and use only premium gas with regular oil changes.

Please, pls suggest on this.

Thankyou

Check your oil and find another mechanic.

Yeah as you guys said it is an metal on metal sound. It would lower the noise if I accelerate at around 50 to 60. But it is unbearable below 25's. Please suggest.

Thankyou.
