Cooling fan frustrations.
Hello all,
I pretty much exclusively drive Hondas. I have a 1990 Civic DX with some mild fun parts on it, and a 1998 Acura 2.5TL that's all original and looks like its brand new still.
My 98 2.5TL is having cooling fan issues.
The relays and switch A and B are good. All fuses are good.
The fans both come on with the a/c on but only for about 5 seconds and only when the key is at position 2 without starting the engine.
My temp sensors for the ECU and for the gauge on the dash both test good as well.
The heater works good but the a/c doesn't blow cold air and I have recharged it and checked all fuses.
The blower motor resistor is bad and the blower motor only works on high.
It has a good thermostat.
As far as I know the only two things I haven't yet ruled out is the cooling fan control module and the main relay but I do not really know how to test either of those.
I got the car for free because the person didn't want to have to pay a shop 1000 bucks to change the blower motor. It has 143000 on it and is mint besides the cooling fan issue. Everything else works great and I need this car for a 2000 mile road trip starting April 17.
I'm at my wits end with this so any help is greatly appreciated. I apologize if this is an issue that has been addressed before I looked at like 7 pages of this forum and couldn't find anyone with the same problem that wasn't fixed with a switch or relay.
