Checking/adding atf on first gen TL (transmission question)

Checking/adding atf on first gen TL (transmission question)

hello there just wanting to get a straight answer how would you guys recommend checking trans fluid. running or not? i know it has to be warmed up but what about engine shoukd it be off or turned on? i got a 97 2.5 tl it has quite a bit of miles on it 195k runs great just kind of a lag in second gear and slight kick from first to second. any help would be appreciates.thanks

I know it has to be with engine running on my 3.2tl.

Running in park. If it's low, add some then run through all gears and return to park to check again. As far as the hard shift from 1st to 2nd thats pretty normal.

Thanks for your input.i actually took it to a transmission shop and had the owner drive it around for 20 min and told me it shifts just fine and he wouldnt do anything to the tranny. the thing is that theres days it jerks in between gears and days it doesnt. whats everyone opinion on tranny flush? maybe ill do that.
