After driving 20 miles +, motor stays on when car is turned off?

I have a 1998 3.2TL with a little over 105,000 miles I recently picked up from the original motor. This situation has happened to me twice where after driving from School to work (about 20 miles) and from home to the window tint shop (30 miles), I noticed the front part of my motor remain ON after turning my car off and getting out of the car. My guess is this is the coolant system? Is this common? Any help is appreciated, thank you.

I didn't know our engines were able to have different parts run at different times...

It's your cooling fan. If you want it to stop, disconnect the little temp sensor in the back of the passenger side valve cover.

Don't disconnect anything, you may run into overheating problem.

I'm assuming this is common for 3.2TL owners?

Honda fans can run up to 8 minutes after the car is turned off. This is the way it was designed, you want it to do that. Don't disconnect anything.

I have no problems with heat and mine isn't connected. I don't even have the hole in the cover on the 3.5, although it has an indentation if you want to drill and thread it to use it. I drive hard, often, and for long periods of time.

I removed the heat/sound paper/fiber thing because it was getting janky and torn, and while I have a bit more engine noise, it runs cooler, too.

~Cheers~

It may not be because of the weather though. Are all of your fluid levels normal? Mine ran for a while like everyday when it was decent out and I found out that I needed a radiator.

Thanks for the responses. I'm glad this is a normal thing. Yeah, all of my fluid levels are normal and there's no radiator leaks. The car runs fine and i'm getting about 23 miles a gallon doing a mix of 50/50 city and highway. It's just something new to me.

Common and normal. It helps prevent blown head gaskets.
