1998 tl 2.5 egr
My 1998 TL 2.5 with ~270k miles and original spark plug wires showed a P0401 EGR error code about 4 months ago. I foolishly ignored the code and continued driving the car without problems for 2-3k more miles. Just recently, I started the car in the morning and it ran very rough. I checked the codes and had a P0301 cylinder 1 misfire and a P1399 misfire in addition to the pre-existing P0401.
I have read online that the 3.2 cylinder TL is known to develop clogged EGR ports, which require some effort to access. I would rather attempt to diagnose this problem IF the 2.5 EGR is easier to access than the 3.2 EGR.
Does anyone know where the 2.5 EGR is located and if it also has clogging issues?
Thanks!!

The EGR valve is on backside of engine near firewall. However, the EGR manifold (top of intake manifold) is readily accessible and easy to clean. This is more likely the problem.
