1997 TL 2.5 ROUGH IDLE. What do I do?
I have had a varying idle for a few months now and after talking to a mechanic he said that I need a replacement relay switch of some sort. He obviously didn't know what he was talking about because after he replaced it the problem persisted, but it has lessened since I have been using the AC less since summer is starting to end. My problem is somehow correlated with my AC but don't have the money to deal with it now. Sorry I couldn't help tho.

If the idle speed is dropping low, perhaps < 600 rpm, the idle will be unstable and lot's of vibration. Cause is inadequate idle air and problem is usually a dirty throttle plate and dirty idle air control valve. Remove intake duct and clean throttle plate. Remove idle air control valve (IACV) and clean passages and valve. Use throttle body cleaner. Check IACV for function w/ a power supply or battery voltage.
