That was easy! (LED Interior)
That was easy! (LED Interior)
Thanks to the many, many thread authors on LED conversion/installation, I was able to do this 2/3 hour job today! And thanks to the some insight from this post and tmnhs81 for the dimmer switch instructions!
If I knew the POSITIVE lead from the LED's were actually the silver wires (NOT the copper ones
), this project could have only taken an hour and a half. But oh well. Just remember that yourself if you buy the ones listed below
The package of LED's came with 10 strips for $17 shipped. I put one in each footwell, and three in the trunk. I attempted the glovebox, but encountered wiring problems - so I left it since the bulb was shot anyways. Maybe sometime when I have time lol. So I have three left that I need to put somewhere ha!
Okay, onto the good stuff. Bought these from here from this Ebay seller (I prefer US sellers
- these ones were reasonably priced). The wire taps (pack of 100) on the right were from here from this seller.

No, I do not have a purple dash. Those are blue - didn't check my white balance..
The LED's have a fairly blue tint, but not too bad. They're not PURE white.

The driver's side strip is glued to the bottom of the panel under the wheel (facing somewhat forward and down), and the passenger's side LED strip is glued to the white plastic glovebox piece facing straight down (hence a brighter footwell).

I installed the rear LED's under the seats by hooking them in and out of the underside springs - fairly easy IMO.

Oh!! The trunk was so awesome to set up!! NO glue, NO zip ties, and NO mounting equipment for the LED's!!!! I just squished them in some metal molding on the right and left of the trunk roof and one more near the old bulb.

What do you guys think?
PS - I'll have to do the LED bulb replacement some time - too expensive right now
PPS - One thing I was bummed about was the reversed dimmer switch phenomenon mentioned in this post. Is there some inline thingy I could install to switch it around again?

Hey thanks - that would be awesome! Wouldn't it make the dash dark if you changed the switch around? I mean, are the dash lights reversed, or is it the switch? Why wouldn't the LED's be bright when the dash is bright then?
Yeah, I'm thinking a little aluminum foil would help for the left and right ones considering they are pointing east and west instead of straight down like the one by the original bulb.
Doors and dome lights...I don't know - how much did you spend on all your replacement bulbs? I don't want to spend $50 on replacing my bulbs.

Well you need DE3175 for the doors and domes.
You need 3 pairs of these.

I got LEDs from that vendor from my friend and they are nice. Those ones are kick ass too.

I was really sad when I bought it because my cello doesn't fit in the trunk...I have to put it in the rear seat..
BTW, the LED's come with a super small gauge wire on them. If you have multiple LED's tapping into some existing wire, twist the LED leads together so the wire is bigger. If it's only one tapping into some existing wire, strip the wire 1-2" so that you can 'fold' it over once or twice. The wire has to be big enough to work with the wire taps. Oh and remember on these LED's the SILVER is the positive lead.
Thanks! They're SUPER easy to install - just squish 'em in and wire 'em up!
