You need a solenoid to unlock the trunk latch and of course the wiring and remote. Its possible but you need to do your homework on this.

The reason why this is so difficult for our TLs is it uses a wire latch system. Its easiest on cars that use a button to open the trunk. However, i'd like to look at my brother's 2001 Accord because his car uses a wire-latch system and his car has a factory trunk opener on his key fob.

you need a trunk actuator to unlock it and a solenoid to make it pop up. A trunk actuator is electronically controlled, of course you'll need an alarm system that will support the actuator. I think DEI makes a system that works with oem actuators.

Yeah, it's not that bad. Just need the solenoid and an alarm with e trunk output. That's all.

look around ebay for a trunk solenoid or trunk actuator... if ur alarm has a aux button wire it to that... u will most likely need a relay also... if u do not know how to install it.. have someone do it.. not worth burning out ur alarm or anything else...

oh yeah one think to keep in mind when u are installing the solenoid.. our trunk have a supersmall sensor that detects if ur trunk is open.. this is the light in ur dash that comes on... with the solenoid in place..u may have to bend the trigger a little so it reaches the button when the trunk sits closed.. otherwise that light won't ever turn off and 9 times out of 10 u will have false alarms or ur trunk won't even arm.

One question...How do you remove the cable from your trunk? I want to manually open the trunk with the key and not the trunk release handle by the driver seat.

Don't you have the key lock on the trunk release? Just lock that and the only way to pop the trunk will be with the key in the trunk only. This is there so that when you take your car in for service you can give them the VALET key which only opens the doors and ignition, won't open the trunk or unlock that release or glovebox.
