i just got my state inspection 2-3 weeks ago and both the front lens (clear) and my inspire tails (took out the orange lens) both passed inspection lol they didn't really care. all they did was check to see if any of my brake light bulbs were burnt, see if the lights that shine down on the back license plate works, and see if my left and right signals work...color didn't matter to them. thats it...and i passed. actually the people who worked on my car were mexicans who didn't really speak english so it was all good

Reasons to live in Canada:
No mandatory vehicle inspections...
They're inspected when they're imported into the province, and after that, it's just up to the cop's discretion to pull you over for all this stuff. By the way, they almost NEVER bother unless body panels are falling off and the car's blowing so much oil from the tailpipe that you can follow the trail...
Of course this also means that rust buckets have longer life spans up here... It really makes you wanna kill someone when a crappy old 65 Parisienne worth a hundred bucks totals off your beautiful 30 thousand dollar ride.
Oh well, take the bad with the good...

Insurance rates vary WILDLY up here, as I imagine it does in the states. In Alberta the insurance rates are much the same as yours, but Saskatchewan is a LOT cheaper.
Stupid question....
So what happens when you fail an inspection?
Do you have to undo all of your illegal mods before you can drive your car again, or do you just pay a fine and move on?
