AC Daddy,

The D2R bulbs are made for reflective headlight housings (like the ones we have on our 1st gen TL's). The D2S bulbs are for the projector headlight housings (like those on an S2000 or BMW). I had a chance to try them both and the D2S put out more light than the D2R's. But the light is almost too much and almost blinding! Stick with the D2R's..that is unless you do a projector light conversion...

D2S & D2R bulbs are for cars with OEM HIDs. In order to use either of those bulbs you'd have to modify the base and align the HID capsule in the right spot or else your floor pattern will be horrible. I've done it before. You need to take the trim ring off a halogen H4 bulb and epoxy it to the HID bulb. Not fun to do but definitely do-able. You'll blind oncoming traffic though.

For a direct plug and play fit you need an H4 HID kit. Aftermarket HID kits have been banned for sale in the US but you can still find some if you look around. You can find some kits on Ebay. Don't get anything higher than 6000K and stick with Philips or Osram bulbs & ballasts.

Those would probably work. I'd rather just buy a kit with H4 bulbs though.

Or, if you really want your lights to look pimp, why not get an HID projector conversion done? You could get a bi-xenon setup and have HID lowbeams and highbeams. The bi-xenon Audi projector kit (includes Audi bixenon projectors, HID ballast, and HID bulbs) is $399.00 and the projector installation is $300.00. Plus you have to ship your lights to them and back. They're located in NY. Go to www.hitech.com for more info. Turn around time is only a few days.

96TL, you mean that we can send them our headlights and they can mod them to projector housings??
Thats freakin awesome, looks like i need to start saving some dough.
Would buying an H4 hid kit be just as effective though?

Yup. Send them your headlights and they mount projectors in them.

Would buying an H4 kit be effective?
Sure would.

Will the floor pattern be as clean as projectors?
Hell no.

Will the H4 kit blind oncoming traffic?
Badly.

Is it worth the extra $300?
It all depends on how much you care about headlights. Keep in mind that with an aftermarket kit you lose your highbeams, this way you don't. If I knew about this site when I was into modding my TL I would've definitely gotten them. Actually, I would've had them mount a set in the headlight reflectors and in the foglights.

If you want to keep it simple, just get a kit and use the stock lights.

I car about headlights big time. I hate the low visibility of my stockies. I guess this will be my new mod to the car.
Untill i raise the funds im just gonna get the bulbs BlueC put in his car. Just something for a little improvment over stock.
Thanks for the input!
