Question Weird Problem

Yesterday I was driving my car, then all of a sudden the door locks began opening and closing, the lights showing the a/c began flickering, the clock went out and the acceleration began 2 decrease on its own, causing me 2 stop. I tried 2 restart the car and the engine turned on but once i released the keys the engine stopped. I did it again and the same thing happened. The car only stays running if I hold the keys in place once its on, but that damages the starter because I hear it screeching. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I heard I might need a new ignition.

Check your battery, it could be either that or your alternator... IIRC, that happened to me in one of my cars and it was the alternator. Good luck.

It sounds like an ignition switch failure. I've experienced the exact symptom where the car tries to start with the key fully turned, but when released all electrical functions for the engine seem to quit. Accords were bad for this. Fred

I had forgotten all about the notorious keyswitch! Early to mid-90's Hondas were the ones with the problems.
