water inside of taillight?

Hello, buddy,

I found some water inside of my 97 2.5TL taillight. I went to the dealer. They told me it's condensed water, there is nothing they can do instead of replcing the whole set. Anybody here have the same problem?

Thanks!

never listen to those stupid dealers. they just wanna make a quick buck. anyways to fix the problem just go around the housing with some silicone. i'm sure that'll keep whatever moisture that was seeping in out. make sure the seals in the trunk is tight cause some people on this site have had flooded trunks.

Thanks! It's really simple and great idea. There is just one taillight has water inside. Where should I put the silicon? Is it easy to open the taillight and put the silicon inside?

I've seen alot of 1st Gen's that have condensation in the tailight. It always seems to be the passenger side too. You would probably have to take off the tailight and pull out all the bulbs and make it sit in your house for a few days until it dries. Then you can put a bead of silicone around it. I never did this before so I'm not too sure.

DO NOT open the tail light housing. just take it out of the car and put a bead of silicone where the dark molding touches the clear plastic.
