Wow, that engine looks like new.
Too bad I have a 2.5 model. Otherwise, I'll look into that sh*t.

damn that bitch is clean. I would buy it right now... money is not an issue... its installing the damn thing. I have done the head gaskets on a 95 legend, and that was enough to make me wanna hurl.

dont the jdm engines make 215hp instead of 230hp? Also, wouldn't u have to rewire everything from OBD2 back to OBD1?

The JDM motors are rated different, not sure the exact HP but its more than 220.

And yes you have to rewire everything and its a real b!tc#

would be nice to strap in 20 more ponies though. It's just a shame that we can juice up the power on our TL's without spending an arm and a leg. Even then, not many options. But I still luv my baby

A new throttle body and a cold air intake go a long way. Also a free flowing exhaust helps.

Those items wont break the bank.

I've been seriously thinking of changing the TB to a legend unit. Have found 1 or 2 of those locally, in good shape and good prices. Air intake is coming soon too.
As for exhaust... some wrench at the acura dealer tried tellin me that you can't buy a much better exhaust than the stock unit....some wrench. But for now my project is the strut bar!

Well be careful which Legend throttle body you buy. If its from a C32A5 motor you've got the right one.

MOST Legend motors are the SAME as our 3.2 TL engines which are C32A6. You wont see a performance boost because its the same part.

Yup, I did theswap and I am going through HELL right now because of it. One of my heads is burning oil like crazy, car failed emissions test last week and my registration is currently expired. Can't get a new one until I get new cat and O2 sensor and do oil change with MEGA anti-smoke, and hope it will pass. Word of adice...IF you do the swap make SURE you have enough money to re-build heads of donor engine! Will reducve risks of any oil-burning issues down the road, now i have to take them back off the motor to have them re-done. Anyways, as for the OBDI to OBD II, the car WILL run on the OBDII SOTCK 3.2 TL ECU, which mine is right nw. You can either change the whole harness, or make up an adapter harness to convert the stock harness (just like the CIVIC guys do, but there isn't one available for us). I have FINALLY located a supplier for the connectors, I have all the ECU re-mapping figured out and I am about 3-4 weeks from completing the adapter and trying the Type II (OBDI) ECU. All in all while the prcess was fun, I am starting to think it was not worth all of the effort and $$$ I am in the process of putting the $$$ down for muy house and these expenses are not easy to swallow right now. If I were to do it over, I would have found a later model 3.5 RL engine and just done a complete swap with that, 225 HP, and WAY more torque than the Type II 3.2 engine. Anways, I still would recommend it as it is a cool project and I will FINALLY be able to reap the full benefits of my engine once I do get this ECU adapter harness made up. Once I have it completed, if any of you want to do this swap with this adapter, I will probably start making and selling them (for a fair price of course, not trying to make money just to recoup some price for the time I will spend making it).

DAMN cornflake, havent heard from u in a WHILE! thought u'd disappeared from the forum. Good 2 know ur stil around and that the TL is still alive and kickin. Thanks for the headsup - maybe u could give us a full writeup with advice on those thinkin about a Type II conversion.

Also, I would DEFINETELY be interested in a custom made harness that eliminates any wiring difficulties between the OBD1 legend setup, and the OBD II setups in our cars. Ideally, it would be awesome to keep the benefits of our OBDII system (diagnostics etc.) whilst being able to run on the OBDI ecu from the legend. I would definetely pay for such a harness! Anywyas, keep us updated on the car, and let us know how it goes.

Vishnus, the OBDI to OBDII adapter, would still use the Legend ECU which is an OBDI ECU. You wouldn't gat any of the OBDII Benefits, but it would save having to remove the main OEM wiring harness and install a Legend one, which is a TONNE of work and $$$!! You just unlpug and remove the stock ECU, then plug the adapter into the original harness and plug in and install the Type II Legend ECU. ;-) But thanks guys, I have been soo busy with a new job and learning some home automation stuff on the side that I have hardly done much on the forums at all. I am starting to slow down a bit and I HOPE toi be able to be on here more, as I do enjoy talking about my ride. She's kickin, but she's puttin up a fight! LOL Once i am in my house this fall, I will have more time to spend fixing all the stupid little things that are wrong with her and finish what I started a year ago!
