Type II - DONE!!!

Well, I am finally picking up my car this evening. After a roughly 5 month ORDEAL I am going to be driving my '97 3.2 TL with a '95 Legend Type II motor. Unfortunately things are still not all good. Due to the bad head from the original motor, I had to purchase another one from a different wrecker as the one I purchased the motor from would not help me. The car is burning oil, and I think this head needs to be re-done. That will have to wait. I am also NOT running on the Type II ECU so I will not see all of the performance gains I should. This is due to the fact that the Type II ECU pins are wired COMPLETELY different from the TL. Therefore I will have to have the entire harness re-wired to make it run. I am broke, tired of not having my car and fed-up with this entire disaster. So again this will have to wait. I can't WAIT to get my car back, and I hope it runs well enough to last until next winter when it can go BACK into the shop, get the heads both removed and cleaned up and have the ECU re-wired, by which time I hope to have a Bayou chipped ECU to put in. I am waiting for one rad-hose that didn't fit now and I can go and pick up my car. Mixed emotions right now, happy to have it back, pissed this whole thing didn't go well, and REALLY pissed about how much it cost me considering I am going to now have a car that is going to be smoking like Cheech and Chong. Anways, I'll get some pics of then engine and let you know if there is any performance increase at all later today!!

Well, I think I am just going to rip a wiring harness out a legend to get the connectors and see if one of my guys here (I work for a connector company) can get me the ECU end of them to make up an adapter cable from the Legend to the TL so I can use the RIGHT ecu (Legend) and get at least the performance gains I wanted out of this dumbass idea of mine!! I am picking the car up at 5:00 .... I honestly am looking forward to having it back regardless of the situation!!!

(And in case that sounded bad, it wasn't supposed to , just re-reading t now...don't like the way I worded that) I mean that I will have to get your kit to get something that IS worthwhile for the money!!! :P

Picked 'er up and gave her a good run....GOOD!!

ALRIIGHTY....Just got home from baseball. Picked up the ride after work and had to jet out to Baseball. Got a good highway run right off the bat, she felt pretty good. It does burn a little oil, but nowhere NEAR as bad as my boys made it out to be. Pulled nicely too. Haven't taken it over 4 g's yet and all pretty gentle acceleration so I dont know really how the perf. is. will be hard to tell too cause I haven't DRIVEN THE DAMNED THING IN 5 MONTHS!!! BUt honestly, it feels pretty good. I'll keep you all updated and when I get the ECU adapter pinned up I'll throw in the Type II ECU and let you know how it goes. Pics will be up tomorrow for sure!!!

OK, so I've been cruising around all weekend checkin out how this new bad boy performs. So far so good. The oil-burning problem is still there, but is not as pronounced as it was the first few days, so I am hoping it is gonaa go away almost completely. The car definately launches better out of the hole. Midrange feels pretty solid, but the top-end s just not any better. I am going to be adding an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to see if that will help the problem. Basically she runs pretty good. It's a bit quicker now but should be a LOT quicker once I get the ECU work completed and get the Legend ECU plugged in. Haven't had a chance to take pics yet, but I will this week for sure.

haha.....That's what I figured TLX!! Yeah, I WILL be taking some pics this weekend for sure. Clean up the motor and snap a bunch of pics. Thanks Longeye. I haven't dyno tested it yet, I prolly won't bother until I get the Type II ECU wired up. SHould see about 20-30 more HP at the wheels over stock I am hoping.
