Torque Specs

Hey guys, Just seeing if anybody has a link to torque specifications for a 98 3.2... I'm doing my plugs tonight and don't have a owners or haynes/chiltons manual. I tried searching the forums, but no luck. Thanks in advance!

Are you sure?? That's a HUGE amount of torque. You are replacing the spark plugs, right?? If so, my Acura's service manual stated to tighten it at 18 N-m or 13 lb-ft.

Assuming you mean spark plugs, the general rule for tightening spark plugs is screwing them in with the socket extention until it won't spin easily anymore than taking the wrench and moving it from 12 o'clock to 1 o'clock. Not very tight but spark plugs don't need to be real tight and that way you won't strip them and they'll come out easily the next time.

LOL Yeah, you DON'T want to strip the threads in that ALUMINUM head, you'll end up having to replace the whole head. Use a piece of rubber hose, put the plug in one end, insert and turn to thread it safely. You should be able to tell if it is turning properly or not, this will prevent cross-threading. WHen you thread it all the way in and feel the plug spinin in the hose, get your spark-plug socket and turn 1/4 -1/2 turn until he plug feels secure this seats the pressure washer on the plug. NOT: Once you tighten plugs, your really shouldn;t re-use them if you remove them as that washer is designed to only be used once.
