Unhappy tires and rims

Hey guys, I have a 97 2.5TL. I don't know a damn thing about tires or rims. I want to put some 18's on put I keep hearing about tranny wear, adjusting the tow, etc. Will someone enlighten me about what size rims I can put on her without fu@k@#g up my car. Also Brooklyn has major pot holes so I don't want tires that are to skinny. Help!

18x7 or 18x7.5 with an offset of +42 or higher and you should be fine. Tire size of 225/40/18

Thumbs up

96TL,

The Black TL is off the hook. I just bought a White 1998 TL, and I'm in the process of trying to find some rims. It's trimmed in chrome, so I want chrome rims. Do you have any suggestions? I'm a female and don't know much about wheels and rims, but I want to hook it up.

Thanks for the compliment. Anyway, what kind of wheels all depends on how big you want them and how much you want to spend. What is your price range?

ACTUP-

I feel your pain about major pot holes. I live Upstate, and the 4 season here are Fall, Winter, Spring and Construction!

Send and email to info@autocarparts.com for help with your search.

I'm looking to get rims on my ride too. Considering 17 x 7's or 17.7.5's, with a 215/50 17 tire. The rim I'm considering has a offset of 50. Playing it safe, somewhat.
Good Luck-

96TL: I'll let you see how my ride looks like when I get the pics ready. By then you'll see what kind of rims I got and how my ride looks like. Keep an eye out. It'll be coming out soon. LOLz!

if you go with a 215/50 tire, your speedomter is going to be off. your better off going with 215/45 instead. with your pick of 215/50, your speedometer will be off when you hit around 33 mph...youll actually be going around 35 mph. stick with 215/45.

I've been looking on the web, but I can't find anything. Also, do you know if I can get tail lights that are red and clear? You know, take out the orange turning signal. If you do, please tell me where.

TLLover8888

Thanks for the info. I actually was considering going against the tire rack's recommended 215/50 17's, and getting 215/45 17's (Kuhmos). I think they were $95 a pop, not a bad price considering. For rims, I wanted Mille Migllia Spyder Sports but I'm not so sure. There is a guy online that has a BMW Z3, and he has logged alot of miles across the country. He was running with 17 or 18's I forget, but he said they seem to bend to easily. So I'm considering Fittipaldi Argus'.They have a small lip and the design complements the lines of the 1st Gen TLs-

Those rims look like a 18 inch chrome version
of my factory rims. They are hot, I love my factory wheels and would love a 18 inch chrome version of them.

Thanks, Escobar74 and Wampum, for the welcome. I look forward to many conversations about our cars with all of you. Hopefully, when I get the ride hooked up, I'll be able to scan a picture of it on the board so you guys can see it.

Thanks, TLover8888, for the web site address for the clear tail lights. I would have never found them.

And thank you too, Wampum, for all the other web sites. I'll definately be using them.
