Timing Belt and Radiator Hoses Durability/Replacement
I am trying to get feedback on these questions from 1+2G owners since the 3G TL are too new to establish a history on timing belt/hoses durability and replacement. Acura is probably still using the same suppliers for the new TL's.My 2004 TL has the 50K warranty and ofcourse you are hosed if the TB breaks after the warranty has expired. So I am planning to do preventative maintenance and replace the above between 50K-? miles. Your input is really appreciated. Thanks again.

What are you guys getting quoted/charged for replacing the timing belt, and what else gets replaced along with it? I really need to do mine, 130k and I don't know when it was done last...

It includes all belts and water pump.

Yeah, I got quoted something like 8xx I believe, almost 9 There's another dealership that could do it, but I have had some flat out shitty experiances with them, so I don't know if I want to see what they would charge...

i just got my car and will have to drop 1100 for a timing belt, water pump, tranny flush (possibly) and radiator flush. it's the 105k mark...so it's time for all this to be done. it better run like uber new after it's all done. <praying>

I paid about 750 to get my timing belt, water pump, oil change, tranny flush, and coolant but that happens when you change your water pump. I was expecting 900 but since I knew the guy and helped him do some of it he lowered the price.
I remember a while back someone mentioned that he took it to a honda dealership and they did it for less then what his local acura dealership quoted him.

I just paid to have everything done...i figured better safe then sorry.

i'm going to have to do same thing. i didn't see any writing.....but to have it 'checked' is bout same price since engine has to be torn down to check it. so oh well....might as well make for certain.

I had my timing belt, other belts, and water pump replaced at 105k, after I found out on this forum that the 3.2s are "zero clearance" engines; if the timing belt fails your engine is history! It cost me $970. I'll be up for my 2nd timing belt replacement sometime next summer as my car will be up around 210k in that timeframe. I plan to get hoses replaced then, too.

i think that is a good thing about these cars and engines. yeah, it does cost a pretty penny to get em all fixed and what not. but look at the results after you do: thousands of miles of usage. it should run almost like new if it's been properly, or even decently taken care of. i can't wait to get mine done lol....i want it to run perfect. i don't wanna pay for it, but heh, who does?

When I got mine done a year or so ago it was $1500, but I had the whole 105K tune-up done with new spark plugs, tranny flush, alignment, etc. all done. The timing belt change itself was in the upper 800 region I think.

Guys! If you can...make friends with a mechanic that works at the dealer! My buddy did my timing belt, rad. flush, tranny drain, diff. drain, water pump replace and it only cost me $508.00 out the door! They can usually hook you up w/ a 30% discount. Yeah, he had it for about 4 days but the end result was the same.
I also got my type-s wheels when they 1st came out for only $400. brand new! Same guy also turned out my SRS light for me at no cost. That saved me about $80.00. It's all about who you know. Just a thought.
Anyway, I had mine changed at 86,000 miles. Now at 100,000. Going to start saving in a year or so for that 165,000 mile mark.

haha, I dunno, but I would find out! If not, Toronto is only 3.5 hours from Windsor. May have to come down to Michigan myself to pick up a 5 spd tranny for my upcoming conversion....

Cause 6 spd's are WAY too hard to find locally, and 3 times the price. 5 spd will be enough, I just want to have a stick period!! If I come across a 6 spd for a good price before I do it then yeah, I will DEFINATELY go 6 spd. Just have to get the tranny first as the clutch and flywheel are different for each.

Over 200,000 kms on original tb
I'm just about to change mine for the first time and it's over 200 kms on a 97 3.2TL. That's impressive.
Prices for TB range from $500 for just TB to anywhere between $700 and $1350 for TB and water pump but that $1350 includes the three drive belts which run about extra $150 for the set.
