Timing Belt

my 96 tl 3.2 has about 91k on the clock and a oil change is due soon i'm gonna ask the tech for a price on a timing belt job what price do you think he'll quote me??? what's the going rate ? thanks travis

It costs approx $800.00 at the stealership.

It costs approximately $800.00 at the dealership. This is for a 2.5TL. I don't think the price should be any different for a 3.2

I paid 600 but thats with a hook up. the stealership quoted me close to a grand.

An experienced professional can probably do this job in 4-6 hrs. Book labor estimate is probably higher for "average" skill level say 8 hrs. This works out to $600-$800 labor depending on local rates. T'belt parts should not be more than $100 for timing belt and tensioner.

If you add water pump, I would add another hour of labor and $150 pump cost.

Total w/o pump = $700-$900
Total w/ pump = $925-$1150

Wow, I paid 700cdn with pump at the Acura dealership. And that was in dec05.

If you want to save money, next time if you're in for a service ask the mechanic if he does side job at home on the weekends or at night, he may save you 500 bucks.

thats if he doesn't want to make much. he could still charge closer to the same price as the dealership quote. =oT

I got mine, 97 2.5 TL, for $725.00 at the stealershipwith W/pump included.
