Throttle Body Clean Up

I have read and I know that cleaning of the throttle body can help with performance and ultimately saving gas....which is a premium (sorry for the pundit).

How do you do it and what is the best process? Any reminders, pointers, etc.? Should we have a sticky on this already? If we do, pardon me.

You can take apart the throttle and clean it. a friend of mine does it to his gs300 and it is FILTHY in there. My car is almost 10 yrs old so im sure its worse. I just dont know how to take it apart.

I have been lurking all the time...have not used the Tl most recently, still 72,000 miles for a 98. But it is time to ride it again! So, slowly but surely I will be back. Couple of things to start with...the throttle body clean up. So anybody who has done this? We need a DIY on this!

What do you mean by clean up? Cleaning out the black stuff in the tb? IMO its not woth it, you will see a .00001 hp/tq gain if that. Its only going to get dirty in another 300 miles anyway.

I was thinking of doing it too when I get my thermoblock spacers later on down the road. Would it really get that dirty so fast after 300 miles?.. that's like a 6 hr road trip right there. I take it that you've done it before and taken it apart again to know it gets dirty so soon?
