thinkn of getting a tl

i'm thinking about getting a 1998 acura 2.5tl as my next car. i was just wondering if i need to check anything in particular before i go check out the guys car. i used to drive a 1990 honda accord lx and sadly to say it went down the sh*itter. there were so many problems, it would just cost too much to fix and id be better off getting a new/newer car. ive been reading up on the 2.5tl and it soundz and lookz great. it'z definitely a boost up from the old accord. but i have heard of some problems regarding the tranny, windows, and a few other thingz. anything i should know?

Slow rolling windows, a D4 light that burns out and maybe your cigarette lighter. Those seem to be the nuisance problems. Overall our cars are quite reliable and keep in mind, we are driving cars that are anywhere from 6 to 9 years old with 100,000+ miles for the most part. ALL cars have problems but we seem to get only a few here and there overall.

The 2.5 is a nice car, bit more sporty than the 3.2 in terms of handling. It'll seem like a quicker and bit bigger version of your Accord. I think you'll like it

theres no tranny issue with the 1st generation TL. its the 2nd gen TL & CL (99-01) that has bad trannys. well of course if the previous owner never did a transmission flush then you might have to do it. see if the previous owner kept up with the oil change or if that person ever did a major tune up b/c if not, you're the one who has to put out that money for it and its not cheap. other than that, 1st gen drives like a ROCK!! did you know that the 1st gen is 100% made in japan??! So you know its rock solid

Just one question:

Does anyone know if the 96-98 TLs have fold down rear seat? If yes, is it a 60/40 split? Thanks.

No, TL's have never had a fold-down rear seat. This is done to keep the chassis more rigid.
