Thinking About Selling My 1st Gen for a 2nd Gen.

I have a 98 2.5 TL and its a great car but I think its time for me to upgrade. I am looking to buy a Metallic Blue 2003 3.2 TL Type-S with the navigation system towards the end of the summer of 2007. I am posting because I would like some feedback from you guys and girls.

19 years old, i would keep your money and wait a lil longer..you dont know what will be out. especially insurance might be high for you,2nd gen transmission is the most prob. ,if u do end up getting one ,make sure the transmission is good to drive at 100,000 miles and above other than that don't buy it.

I wouldnt. I owned a 2003 and IMO the interior wasnt as upscale. Get an '04 if you must get a newer TL

Wow, this feedback is priceless. Now that I am hearing about the 2nd Gen transmission problem, I should probably wait a little longer to get a new car. After all, my 1st gen isn't giving me any problems, it is truly a great car.

If your first gen is running fine, save your money and drive it until the wheels fall off. Then duct tape them back on and keep rolling! Seriously, if you start putting aside a "car payment" every month (use an online calculator to figure the monthly payment on the 2G you're looking at) in a high yield savings account (HSBC and ING are decent choices), you could pay cash for the 2011 Type S.

Well to be honest, since my first gen is running fine. I was gonna save my money and pay for the car cash in full.

Just wait man. When I was 19 my mind was always having random thoughts of a differ car. Save your money for now, or until your car breaks.

Hi folks.
Nice to know you're getting an upgrade.
However, if it was me, Id ditch the second gen and get the 3rd gen instead. My brother's 2nd gen TL transmission just went kaboom last week, and he is now getting it replaced by warranty.

I will be skeptic about his new replaced transmission because I have heard from other 2nd gen owners that the problem comes back. And they have to argue hard with the dealer to get it replaced again the second time under the warranty.

Its your money. Beware how you spend it.
