Strut...

This might sound like a crazy idea but I have been thinking about this for a while...

I have bad motor mounts, and honestly I don't give a shit about fixing them considering its 250 bucks a pop (both of mine are broken) and god knows how much for labor. I'm 18 years old and I'm not about to bust out a grand and a half on a 10 year old car that has enough problems as it is.

Anywho my idea is, would a strut help keep in place the engine and minimize the jerk and vibration?

I asked my girlfriends father who is a mechanic and he said it could work but he wasn't sure if it would provide much difference.

I know from reading past experiences that alot of people are having problems with busted motor mounts... and the jerk you feel that you may think is the tranny, is probably resulting partially from the bad mounts because basically the engine isn't mounted and literally flying off it's base when you accelerate or shift rough.

This could be a very cheap solution for those who aren't willing to bust out so much money on these things...

input or corrections? Thanks.

There is a mount for the tranny and on the 3.2 TL/Legend/RL its been known to go out. Replacing it wont set you back a grand either. Worth a shot

Well the engine is positioned the same way in the 2.5, i'm quite sure it has a transmission mount as well. Worth taking a look at.

Perhaps try an engine dampener?
Let us know how it worked out and feedback.
