SRS light

My srs lights been on for a while. Its not the fuse(checked) so I think it might have turned on from pulling the battery out all the time (subs, hids, alarm). My friend who has a RSX says he can easily reset his. Could this be done with our TL's?

I don't know but after i messed with my gauges my SRS light has been on... i was going to look into it this weekend but with the holloween thing going on... (i'm going to Sac.CA) i'm not going to be able to... The so called "Bose Amp" is the SRS unit that is behind your HU... but i wouldn't know how to reset it... I'm afraid my air bags might deploy suddenly and knock me out...

Actually our cars are a unique mixture with VERY little in common with the Accord.

The UA2 (2.5) is based on the Vigor platform and the UA3 is a mixture of the UA2 with a Legend front end structure to accomodate the 3.2 engine. Combine this with some parts shared with the RL (3.2 TL and RL share the same tranny and Traction Control)

I swapped out my stock steering wheel for a wood one, which meant disconnecting the airbag harness and pulling the whole bag out. It was no sweat, or worries about the bag deploying. It's controlled by several motion sensors within the car...no ties to the connection or disconnection of the harness itself.

Anyway, my SRS light came on once my wheel and A.B. were all put back together. I have made friends with the head service guy at the local Acura Dealer. Being nice, not cheap, and writing a letter of recommendation will go a long way. He reset my light for free, but I insisted that he take all the cash on me ($12.00) and have a nice lunch. People will hook you up if you take care of them.

To reset, you can take it to a body shop, they might be cheaper. Call ahead. they may charge anywhere from $25.00-$100.00 to do the job. Or you can search the net looking for “Ghetto” ways to reset it.

Hope this helps clear up some confusion and nervousness about the air bag.

How To Reset SRS Indicator

To reset the SRS light, here are the cliff notes -

1. Bend a paper clip into a 'U' shape to create a loop

2. Disconnect the yellow plug in your fuse box under the steering wheel and insert the paperclip into the plug that is now hanging there to complete the circuit.

3. Turn the ignition on and the SRS light will stay on for 6 seconds, then go off - disconnect the paperclip within 4 seconds after that and the light will come back on.

4. Reconnect the paperclip within 4 seconds and the SRS light will go off again.

5. Within another 4 seconds of it going off, disconnect the paperclip and the light will blink twice and it will be done.

This works for me, save me $150 just for the inspection (not fixing it)at the dealer. If you don't get it the first time....repeat steps 1-5 again until the SRS light goes off, this saves you a money and time. Good Luck!

Here are some pictures that might help.

That's awesome cost saving fix. Thanks!! I'm wondering if it applies to the ABS system too since it needs an SCS connector in order to get the codes read.

it's because you disconnect your battery, it resets your ECU.

I finally got my ride running. I am still trying to reset the srs light. Is it the connector that is black, but have a yellow tape on it, making it look like a "caution" wire? is it next to the connector that is brown?

I tried to take that out, again there is a "clip" that pushed it and wiggle out? Is there only one clip? or is there another clip on the other side too?

thanks of your help.

I swaped out my steering wheel, it took about 6 to 7 tries to get it working ( signal lights auto turn off), but never had the SRS light come on.
I disconnected the battery everytime i had to remove the Air bag to get to the turn signal light module.
