Speaker Layout

Just been doing some digging trying to find the speaker layout for a '98 3.2tl. Im looking into swappin out the bose system and putting some jl component speakers, with tweeters, and an amp. so..

1. What are the speaker sizes, and how many tweeters?
2. I'll go ahead and ask for all the speaker and tweeter locations just so i dont miss anything.

Thanks.

Also could you throw in some good names of flush mount touchscreen media/navi units that are reasonably priced?

2 tweeters at the front of the dash
2 midranges on the roof next to the front map light

search. the speaker sizes and locations have been discussed on here more times than i can count. desired_speeds is right though, Bose was never an option on the first gen TLs. it's 6.5" in the front doors, 6x9" in the rear deck, 2 tweeters in the dash and 2 midranges in the overhead console.

Pretty cool - thanks for replying.

Whatever it is - it is one of the best sounding stock systems I've heard. I am pretty happy with it. Though I was happier going around thinking it's a Bose

I thinki ts a pretty good stock system too. I only replaced it when one of my 6.5 went out. I replaced them with Diamond Audio M557 and the difference was incredible. Now I can't go back.

But yes, compared to many other systems out there, the stock TL was pretty impressive. Especially for that time period. These days, manufacturers have caught on and are putting some *nice* systems in cars (Lexus Mark Levinson system in the IS350 for example).
