sound system - aftermarket head unit HELP

my stock cd player is ****ing up
i am thinking about all the speakers
do they have different ohms? are they all the same? and what are they 4 ohm?

what is the process for putting in a aftermarket head unit? will all 8 speakers work? whats the deal? i am thinking the speakers have different ohms and the stock speakers will only work with the stock player

dont get me wrong i really like the stock unit and i may even look into repairing the current player if an aftermarket setup is going to involve changing all the speakers out. they sound great. i have a (kenwood w/ low inputs for no RCAs' or a remote wire)mono subwoofer amp powering two 10's (tapped off the rear 6x9's) and people always comment on how great my system sounds. just the right amount of highs and i keep the bass knob almost all the way down so i have no distortion or anything
i really do like it but if its not gonna play cds something needs to be done

what setups do you guys have?

thanks alot (in advance) for all the help. its much appreciated

I have an aftermarket. I don't have any subs or anything. With an aftermarket, only 6 of the speakers will work. The tweeters above your head right next to the map light won't work with an aftermarket unit. To be honest, I didn't hear much out of them anyway so I don't even notice a difference. I got a pioneer hooked up to the stock speakers, and I, along with many other people, think the speakers sound better with an aftermarket unit. I think mostly because there is more config. with the highs, mids, and lows, so you can find the right balance you want. Hope this helps.

definitely go with an aftermarket. Since an aftermarket HU usually has power output than the stock, you may not need to amp the stock speakers if you do not want the whole block to hear you. Do consider swapping out the stock speakers, new speakers do make a noticeable difference.

we do have a stock amp that has just enough juice to power the stock speakers/tweeters. if you get an aftermarket HU, as HQ mentioned, only 6 speakers will work (the tweeters wont work). anywho, a aftermarket HU will sound better but compliment those with aftermarket 6x9's, subwoofers, and aftermarket components then your system will sound crystal clear!

don't invest in a motorized flip out monitor and dvd player if you live in the ghetto lol i learned the hard way

also remember, if you have the premium version, with the bose system, you have to get adapters..the bose speakers have an amplifier behind each speaker.
