RPM Fluctuation Problem

My RPM fluctuation needle had been goiing up and down like crazy 2 months ago but then it gone after I changed the air intake. 2 days ago, it f**king snowed, and I was stuck 2 hours on highway, usually it takes me about 8 minutes to get to my school. I parked my car (on highway), waited, and enjoyed some music. Terribly, I saw my f**king RPM needle started going up and down again. Today, the RPM needle was nice on the way I drove to the bank, but on the way back home the stupid stuff started happening and my car kicked while the car gear up from 1st to 2nd. The check engine light has been on since this morning as well.
BTY, I thought it happen because of the air idle control valve.
I would like any advice, please!
Thanks in advance!

Your transmission may be going but you said that it snowed so water might have gotten into your intake and that might be your problem.

Do you have any idea how to fix this, beside taking the air intake out and cleaning it?

It might of just dried out so it is fine, but I would check the intake anyway.

Nothing like trying to thread jack everyone's threads. It is your tranny I would guess. Try a drain and fill and changing the differential fluid.
