Removing gold accent stripes

its kind of hard to see but theres a gold stripe going down the car, im sure you all know what im talking about, but i hate it. i dont like the gold look with the black and chrome, i spray painted all the badges black and wanna get rid of this stripe now.

on some sections i pulled it completly off like a sticker without any problems but other parts it seems like only half of it came off.

im wondering if anyone has any ideas for how to get whats left off. i can get a pic if that would help...

3M make an trim/adhesive remover that will take that stuff off with ease... You would have to be careful as to not leave the product on your paint too long... might hurt it... Should be able to pick this stuff up at any parts store... Unfortunately expect to shell out about 6 bucks for a can.

Take it off, use GooGone and hair blower, takes time, but with a little patience, you can take them off. Then wax or polish as necessary. Good luck.

i tried taking them off like you would a sticker, and on some sections only half of it came off. and i cant get my fingernail under whats left and im afraid to use anything like a razorblade.i need something to loosen the glue under whats left or to get it some of it off so i can peel it like before, then ill worry about removing the remaining adhesive

The stuff I was talking about will work even when the decal is on... It penetrates the trim and goes underneath... loosening the adhesive, then you will be able to remove it very easily!

The pinstripes come stock with 2 layers. One is the gold, and then under that there is a silver layer, it is possible to pull them apart, leaving one on the car.

You can see that part has been removed, the rest that you see though was actually paint (the top line) and lack of paint (the second line) iirc.

Beware though, I don't know why, but not all of my pinstriping was painted underneith. I ended up having to re-stripe it, which was a bit of a pain, I went with black though.

Some sort of adhesive remover like goof off will help in removing things, but all I used was a heat gun. Warm up a section and pull slow, once you have the hang of it, you can peel an entire door without it ripping. Good luck.

i found out that there was body damage to the car in the sections where it came off clean, because obviously they repainted those sections and went over the whole car with a sticker style stripe, and that would explain the overspray around the trunk and spoiler.
