The 'Acura' emblem on the my father's 1997 TL was stolen. I ordered a replacement emblem from Del Ray and sent it to him.

Problem: He cleaned off the remaining adhesive before he told me about it and he doesn't know exactly where to place the new emblem. I spent the last two hours diligently searching Acurazine but I can't find any specs that show the proper emblem location on the left side of the trunk lid of a 1G TL. Please tell me my search capabilities are sub-par and direct me to the thread where somebody already answered this question.

At a minimum I need the distance from the lower lip of the trunk lid to the bottom of each 'A' and the distance from the left side of the 'A' to left edge of the trunk lid. I will tell him to make a 'bounding' box with masking tape that lines up with those measurements and then use the edges of the painter's tape to lineup the emblem before he pulls the backing off the tape on the back of the badge.

He is 84 and I'm 2,500 miles away so simple, uncreative directions are better. It might take all afternoon but I can probably talk him through it and he's game to try. Many Thanks in advance...

 

I recently received my replacement silver "Acura" logo from Amazon.

I don't know how the old one fell off but it did and now I got a replacement one but too bad it's not silver.

There is an imprint of my old logo still left on the area where it once was. I will attach it directly over that once I get around to doing it.

Do you still need pictures of where to attach it?

 

Thanks for the response and the kind offer but I no longer need the information. I received an email from my father just last night saying that he managed to attach the Acura emblem without any additional measurements. He says he's happy with the results. He's 84 and a big believer in 'good enough' so I'm not sure what to expect when I visit him and see the job for myself but if he's happy with it so am I.
