Rear Wheel hubs

OK, have been having crazy road noise all winter. I THOUGHT it was my snows that I had purchased as that was what it sounded like to me. However just took the car out and had the stereo on mute for some reason, apparently the wheels are about to fall off!! Clankety clank from rear wheel bearings is SOOO loud and shaking the whole car now! Anybody else had any problems like this!? I think the 18's might have been too much for the big Ack to handle, I dunno, but scary!!!

Took it to the shop last night...waiting for the parts to get in it was driver's side hub. Wheel shimmy's around like crazy!! Ended up getting it towed, as it sounded alot worse than it actually was I guess. But no matter, should have the car back in a few days....$500 poorer now though....

what was wrong with it? what do you mean by "it was driver's side hub?" was it the 18s that caused the problem?

Noise was because the driver's side hub/bearing worn out, wheel had at least 1/2 inch of play all around (Should have ZERO!! LOL). I think that rim had a slight dent in it, and that vibration is what caused the bearing to wear out. I'll never get18's again, too little tire to absorb the bumps and too much chance of hitting a bad road around here. Going 17's next time. Won't look as nice, but WAYYY cheaper.

It's got 178000 kms (about 107000 miles). Just hoping the others don't go anytime soon...this is turning out to be very expensive!! hub is $300, tow was almost $100 and labour is gonna be a good fe hours anyways.... I think it's time to invest in the CAA membership!! This tow would've covered the membership fee alone!

OK, got the car back today. $414 including the tow to the shop. not too bad at all...especially since it was a genuine acura bearing..... Plus, I get the tow $$$$ back from my auto club!! SWEET.

ya i just got it done ... Acura Downtown ... also there is a recall on the transmission bolt(i think that's what it's called)... the best thing for u to do is go to the website www.carfax.com.. type in your VIN number and they will check for recalls on your car .. mine came up for three recalls all serviced thru acura at no charge
