I was wondering if anyone's a/c display, right above the a/c controls (shows temp., fan speed, etc.) has gone out. My 97 3.2TL display just went out.. If it did, what did you do? Hopefully, I dont have to buy a new LCD display..Bet that would cost 2 arms and 2 legs..Any ideas or suggestions??

Does the system still work, but you just can't see the display? The reason I ask is that I occasionally lose use of the the entire system, and the ABS and TSC lights go on. Upon turning the car off and restarting, everything goes back to normal...I have an '03TL-P.

The system works and all but the display does not show up..Thank God..can't have a car without the a/c working here on Guam...
if the system works but the display dont show up, maybe the light bulb burnt out?
Also, I found one on eBay. Better than the stealership.

TL no more!
There isn't any lighting for the display screen. The only lights that can be replaced is the backlighting for the buttons. I checked. There're a total of 6 light bulbs you can replace and none of them are for the display. Your best bet is either eBay or junkyard. Here's an address for a junkyard site that reaches to many many junkyards in the country.

If you're handy w/ a soldering iron, you may be able to repair the screen. I had a LED overhead clock in my Subaru that failed. I found this was a common complaint for Subarus, and the problem was some cracked solder jts around small resistors mounted on the display circuit board. They were tiny surface mount resistors and even smaller solder jts that failed in fatigue due to cycling thermal loads(hot car and circuit heating) .
On the Subaru, the resistors were tiny rectangles about 4-5mm sq. Some found them completely loose, others simply resoldered the joint. Fix rate was pretty high, perhaps 80-90%. This requires patience, dexterity, and soldering skill. If you've never soldered, dont try this, rather get someone to help you w/ the soldering. The amount of solder to apply is very small.
You'll need to disassemble the control panel of the AC, so it's a pretty big job to fix a display that you don't absolutely need.
good luck

The funny thing about my display is that it will show when I first start it then just fade out..I'm thinking that maybe a wire is loose or something..or it is slowly dying..
