Rattling sound coming from rear speaker area

My car has developed this rattling sound in the rear speaker area. It sounds like a really crummy, metallic bass rattle even though I hardly turn the volume or bass up loud enough to have that. It doesn't sound like a busted speaker, at least not like any other busted speaker I've ever had.

Does it have anything to do with those strange criss crossed bars that sit underneath the rear lid there? Are those dampening things that maybe have come loose?

Just check out all the bolts on and around the speaker and the grill. They might have come loose over time causing a rattle.

Those strange criss crossed bars that you are talking about are the trunk lid supports. It's what keeps the lid up instead of falling on your head.

It was indeed the bolts. The speakers were fine (not blown) but the bolts around them had come somewhat loose and the bolts around the high tail light had come REAL loose. Tightened them all and now it's fine.

while its not absolutly needed, u mite want to put just a drop of silicone caulk and then screw them in that way they wont come loose again.......jus a thought
