Yo,
Anyone ever noticed when you accelerate hard, there seems to be a rattling sound coming from the car.
What the f*** is that sh**?
How would you fix it.

I don't have that problem with mine.

Where is it coming from?

Metal/metal rattling? Something else?

If you could make it to the meet this weekend in Hopkinton I'm sure we could figure it out.

I had that happening on my car. It was the heat shield on the catalytic converter that was rusting off. It only happened at certain RPMs and I originally thought it was the engine or transmission.

most likely it's a hole or crack in your resonator, muffler, or a connecting pipe. put the car on a lift, you'll see the problem.

After tens of thousands of miles, salt on the roads, rust and lots of heat.. something is going to get loose. Check the hangers for the pipes and muffler, the heatshield on the catalytic converter..

Oh and as a side note, check the mount for the transmission.

I have that happend to me too at a certain speed, like shifting from 2nd to 3rd. I checked with my mechanic and he said that somethinng in the exhust system but not to worry, it's not such a big deal unless I want to spend money and replace the exhust system.

Hi folks.
Thanks for the reply.
Im going to jack it up to check the heat shield like you guys suggested.
You said the heat shield rust. What did you do guys do with your heat shield? Did you completely removed it? Or buy a new one to replace it? How much would it cost?

I used a couple of pipe clamps to hold it together. It isn't perfect but since I know where the sound comes from I can live with it. Was quoted a $180 get it fixed but I don't know what part they wanted to replace nor how much labor was. Not sure about taken it off since the catalytic converter can become very hot and possibly start fires.

I'd replace it if its REALLY far gone, otherwise keep it and try to keep it secure from rattling.

if your lucky it might not be the heat shield. everything rusts under your car. i had a little hole in the pipe connecting to my resonator that caused a loud noise when i accelerated. it only cost me $20 to fix. that was 6 months ago and everythings still perfect.
let us know what it is, good luck

Hmm, I have the same problem. My car makes this really annoying rattling noise if I accelerate hard.
When the schmuck before me had this car, he used regular gas, the rattle was MUCH louder the first days I had it. When I put in premium... the noise got less frequent and only at higher RPMS.
No clue what the hell it can be.
