You can get a universal Muffler that is stainless steel, just make sure they put in a resonator to quite it down it will still be louder than stock but no offensively loud.

Magnafow has a free-flow stainless steel muffler that has dual tips and about the same size as ours. I'm waiting for feedback on this forum from anyone who has one installed to see how loud it is.

Go to this site www.magnaflow.com and you will find stainless steel mufflers with different configurations. Unfortunately, if you go with the ones that are approximately the same size as ours, the dual outlet pipes are further apart and may look dumb on our TL. The smaller mufflers have outlets that are spaced about the same as ours, but being smaller they may be too loud.

Get a remus muffler, one with the dual tips that arent that big, those mufflers arent loud but add some resanators along your piping and it should be quiet.

somethign like this I think would look good on the 1st gen TL. I was gonan get one when I had my chit, put 2 resonators on the piping to make a quiet.

REMUS

Product Model
EXHAUST

Part Code
258097 0502

This REMUS sport exhaust adds 3-5% output by reducing back pressure and increasing flow. It generates a great low sound which is audible without raising the decible output, thus being non-intrusive.
