Talking purchasing a used acura ?

Bought a Acura Certified Used 96 3.2TL last week. If your looking for good financing Honda Finance is offering 5.25% on 4 year loan. This is one of the best used car loans I've seen. Not sure how long it will be continued. Went to a couple Acura Dealerships looking at cars, the first one never mentioned the financing special - so be sure you ask.

Damn that is a sweet interest rate for used cars. Wish I could have gotten mine that low.

MY32TL,

how much did you pay for it, if you don't mind me asking? I just bought a 97 3.2TL with 38k miles on it for $18,090 out the door and I thought this was a great deal but I'm curious to find out otherwise. By the way, I traded in my 93 BMW M3 for it. I do miss it, but the TL has a great ride, good power band, it's a lot quieter, smoother and it fits more people (just had my second child). The only cons so far are the speakers are kind of weak and there are no aftermarket parts for it. Oh well, you win some and you lose some!

Thanks.

Cool

Paid $16,200 out the door(tax, title, repair all chips, etc.), the exact cost was $15,500. It had 48K miles in excellent condition(interior doesn't even look used!). They were asking $16,900 at the start.

While not having alot of aftermarket parts to add to the car is a con, it also saves me from spending money! I guess with a mortgage and kids I should be using the money elsewhere, so its a blessing in a way.

It would be hard letting go of an M3, great to hear your happy with your TL! My only grip is that the throttle response seems a little slow at the very start - compared to the Vigor I had, I'm guessing I just need to get used to pedal response.

It sounds like you also got a great deal. The other thing that persuaded me to buy the car was that it is still under factory warranty (4yrs/50k miles). And, you're right about the mortgage and the kids. It's one of those necessary evils, the mortgage that is!!!

You're also right about the throttle response, it seems that it lags somewhat but it is the way it was meant to be as opposed to the M3 where as soon as you touched the gas pedal you were stuck to your seat and flyin' high!

i just bought my 96 2.5 TL Premium last week. i got it for 14,500 but with tax and everything it came to like 15,800. it had 58,500 on it. the exterior is pretty much in perfect shape except for the chips in the paint on the front bumper but that is to be expected in a 5 year old car. the leather is in near perfect condition. only problem was with the stock stereo. the cd player was so worn out it would only read like 3 cd's of mine and then the front left speaker surround rotted out, and the left rear speaker quit working. but i replaced them so i'm not worried about it now.

I bought my 2.5 TL Premium on Sept of 98' for $19,600 and an additional $900 for 7 year 100,000 miles warranty. The car had when i bought it 24,000 miles. I bought it from Davis Acura in PA and the Sales Person was Ray Schnider. If any of you are planning on purchasing a car I suggest you go to him, he is a GREAT personality to deal with. When I test drove the car he just gave me the keys and said have fun, he didnt even come along, so this way I could do whatever I wanted to with the car and not worry about him in the passenger seat telling me not to beat on their car.

Don't know about you guys, but this is my fourth Acura and they have all been bullet proof: a combined 500k miles and my only repairs were a new master cylinder and front springs. That's it!! Everything else was standard maintenance.
I owned a Buick for four years(less than 80k miles) and spent over $2K on repairs.

I relay these numbers to the Acura salesman when they try to sell me additional warranties. Basically - view it like insurance you probably won't need.

The warrenty(via Acura Certification) they gave me was a Powertrain = 7yr/100k plus the remaining balance of the new car warranty. They wanted to sell me the bumper to bumper 7yr/100k warranty for about $700, but as I mentioned I passed.

If your shopping for used Acura's in the Cleveland Ohio area drop me a line, the salesman I used was also great. Let me and my wife take the car to lunch. We were gone over an hour -(of course my 4Runner was on his lot so I'm sure he knew I wasn't going to disappear).

97 3.2 TL 14,500.00 62000 miles 1300.00 for the warranty 3 years 38000 miles. Yeah I know I will probably never need the warranty but hey you never know :P

By the way...it came with a 1998 TL manual...strange isnt it?

Sounds like some good deals were made. Used TLs are a good bargain. I looked at ES300's before buying my 3.2 TL - an equivalent car(yr/miles) was about $3-5k more!

As far as the extended warranties - if you need it you'll be glad you bought it - the additional peace of mind is a benefit knowing you won't get stuck with some unplanned expenses.
