A pump?

I have a 3.2 TL. Has anyone noticed after the start up of their Tl and the move off in to drive there is like the sound of a pump turning on? I am not sure if it is the ABS turning on under the hood or under the car. But now it makes a nasty loud cry. Has anyone experienced this problem or knows what it maybe?

Yes, it's the ABS modulator doing a self-check.

~Cheers~

OK so its the ABS. Why is it not making it's usual normal noise. It now sounds abnormal and loud. Is there something going wrong or does ABS has its own container of fluid that may need topping up?

An internal or external leak, faulty pressure sensor, etc can cause the ABS modulator pump to run longer to reach a pre-set pressure. If it can't achieve required pressure, it will disable ABS and set ABS light in the cab. Longer run time may indicate a developing problem, or not. Unless a code is set, it's difficult to diagnose.

good luck
